Moderately hard water is generally recommended for Koi fish. Hardness is a measure of mineral ions in the water the preponderance of which is Calcium and Magnesium. General hardness GH is usually expressed in terms of the amount of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) present in solution. It is measured in degrees of German hardness (oDH) which can be converted to ppm by multiplying by 17.9. |
